Chaloner has partnered with WMF on several searches since 2013, with the first search for a CCO producing big results. The WMF talent sourcing criteria requires that candidates from as many countries as possible are considered. After conducting a massive global search for candidates with deep experience in internet rights, net neutrality and education, we presented a slate of twelve candidates and guided WMF through an intense interview process.

The finalist, Katherine Maher was hired as Chief Communications Officer. During the interview process, the Executive Director was transitioning out of the organization and a new ED was hired. In short order, the new ED left WMF and our placement was promoted into the Executive Director role 2015.
