Last month, we announced the retirement of our founder, Ted Chaloner, and I have just returned from Boston where we held several events to honor and celebrate his career. This included making a major announcement at the PRSA Boston annual meeting where I unveiled the partnership with PRSA Boston to launch The Ted Chaloner Learning Fund.
This multi-year endowment will provide early and mid-level career chapter members with access to learning opportunities in the social impact communications and public relations space. PRSA Boston is the largest of the eight chapters in the northeastern district and its 350+ members represent public relations firms, independent consultancies, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and more. Their involvement with six college campuses promotes their dedication to mentoring and professional development; a commitment we also maintain here at Chaloner.
We learned that from Ted, who has always sought to pave the way for those coming up behind him. In the last year, we have noticed a growing need for communicators specifically in social impact and advocacy space. We hope that this fund will encourage young professionals to strengthen their skills in those arenas.
In early 2015, more details about qualifying programs and scholarships will be made available. Inquiries or proposals can be submitted to: learning@prsaboston.org. We are thrilled to be collaborating with PRSA Boston to provide these opportunities and cannot think of a better way to marry Ted’s passions for communications, learning and giving back.
Chaloner, founded in 1979 as Chaloner Associates, is a national executive search firm that focuses on recruiting mid- to senior-level communications, public relations, marketing and investor relations professionals.
